A significant milestone in India’s indigenous shipbuilding journey with the keel laying of two Coastal Research Vessels (CRVs) being built in cooperation with GRSE for the GSI. They are designed for offshore geological mapping, mineral exploration, ocean environment monitoring and research, with onboard scientific laboratories for data processing and sample analysis.
The ceremony was graced by Smt. Varsha Ashok Aglawe, the first lady Director General of GSI, as Chief Guest, along with senior officials from GRSE, GSI, TNSL and IRS.
These modern, technology-driven vessels are being built at the Titagarh Shipyard under the Make in India initiative and will be launched on the Hooghly River from Titagarh Shipyard. This endeavour reflects our humble contribution towards Maritime Vision 2030, strengthening India’s maritime capabilities and supporting the vision of a self-reliant and Viksit Bharat.
We are honoured to contribute to this important project with GRSE, supporting GSI’s scientific and maritime research missions. We extend our sincere thanks to GRSE and GSI for their trust and the opportunity to be part of this endeavour.
