The two ice-class bulk carriers were built to operate where conventional tonnage cannot: cold-water routes where hull and machinery must withstand ice loading as a routine condition of service, not an exception. Rated for ice-class operation, each vessel carries dry bulk cargo for an international commercial operator on export trade routes.
Both vessels were built at the Titagarh Yard, North Kolkata, to the classification standards of Lloyd's and the Indian Register of Shipping, dual coverage that met the technical and commercial requirements of an international buyer. The programme is complete, with both carriers delivered into commercial service, extending TNSL's construction record into export-grade merchant tonnage.
